Do you know what’s going on?

How many incidents have there been in the last 6 months involving your company drivers? How many near misses have there been? Which drivers were involved? What were the circumstances? How many fixed penalty notices have your drivers been issued for speeding, use of mobile phones or other offences? Do you know how many of your drivers have penalty points? How do you know none of your drivers have been disqualified? How sure are you that all your drivers are fit to drive? When did your drivers last have an eyesight check? When was the last time you checked? Have any of your drivers got notifiable medical conditions? What have you put in place to support disabled drivers?

How much support are you giving your drivers? How realistic are their delivery times? Do they have the skills they need to stay safe whilst providing a quality service to your customers? How much time are they given to check their vehicles each day to make sure they are roadworthy? How do you know these checks are being made?

Do you know who has responsibility for making sure your drivers stay safe? What support are you giving them? When was the last time you spoke with them for an update?
